This session will cover Facilities Threat & Vulnerability Assessments/Audits, Safety Protocol Training, and Board Policy & Administrative Procedure Development, and evaluation of how each of these impact the planning process.
Biographies
Chief Alan Bragg | Chief of Police, Retired
A 45-year veteran of law enforcement, now retired, Chief Alan Bragg has since served at police departments for Wichita Falls, Texas, Midwestern State University, Houston ISD, and Spring Independent School District before becoming Chief of Police for the Cypress-Fairbanks School District in 2012. Chief Bragg’s innovative use of law enforcement technology has been featured in articles, media reports and presentations nationwide. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, and with a Master Peace Officer Certification and Police Instructor’s license, Chief Bragg currently serves as VP of the Texas School District Police Chiefs Association, assists law enforcement agencies, and consults on school security and safe schools.
Ian Powell | AIA, LEED AP BD+C | Partner, PBK
Ian Powell has more than 39 years of experience in educational architecture. He has been involved in the long-rang master planning, facility condition assessment, capital planning, programming, design and administration of numerous educational projects of all scopes and sizes, including some with bond/construction values up to up to $1,400,000,000. Most recently, Ian led development of the first grid-connected, owner-owned, photovoltaic array and storage system in Texas for a Houston-area junior high school in a fast-growth district.
Chris Everett, Ed.D. | Culture Design Strategist, engage2learn
Chris Everett, Ed.D., serves as the Culture Design strategist at engage2learn. He works directly with school district to design and manage projects. Chris aims to meet the hopes and desires of every district he serves. Chris is expanding the national conversation that the learner experience is a critical component of the safety and security discussion. Chris also develops business to business partnerships and is coordinating national expansion of engage2Learn’s Leadership and Coaching Development services. He has been a Texas educator for more than 20 years in various roles, including campus and district administrators, and a director at a regional education service center.
