Mike Herrmann
Mike Herrmann retired after providing over 25 years of leadership to Tennessee’s school safety and student support efforts. During that time he established the Tennessee School Safety Center and served on a variety of national and state-level task forces, including the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Safe and Drug-Free Schools. He currently serves as the project manager for a statewide threat assessment and suicide prevention initiative in partnership with the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents and Navigate360.

Rising to the Challenge: Creating a Peer-Driven, School Safety Support Program
In 2015, the Tennessee School Safety Center launched the TN School Safety Mentor Program in an effort to provide peer-driven, school safety training and technical assistance to schools. This session will provide a blueprint of how this program was developed, overcame roadblocks, and achieved sustainable success in supporting safe and supportive learning environments.
