Darin Headrick
Biography:
Darin Headrick is the former Superintendent of Schools for USD 422 Kiowa County in Greensburg Kansas. In 2007, an EF-5 tornado destroyed 95% of the community including 125 businesses and all three school facilities. However, this resilient community rebuilt the entire town from the ground up. The new “Greensburg” is now a sustainable community featuring a number of LEED certified buildings. The school was one of the first LEED Platinum K-12 buildings ever constructed in the US. Darin was instrumental in not only rebuilding the school, but also in leading the community through this long and painful recovery process. Since opening the school in 2010, Darin has been actively involved in promoting sustainable design. Darin spoke at numerous national events and was part of an Eco-partnership between the United States and China which focused on best practices in disaster recovery. Today, Darin is Director of Business Development for McCownGordon Construction and leads his Kansas team in K-12 and higher education projects.
