Mariah is the National Program Lead at Kaiser Permanente for Thriving Schools, which focuses on supporting the mental and physical health of all school students and staff. She has worked for over 15 years in the public and community health field leading efforts around healthy eating, physical activity and most recently mental health and wellbeing. She is active in her community, serving on the board of The Unity Council in Oakland, and volunteering with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Prior to Kaiser Permanente, she led projects at the Samuels Center for Health Research & Evaluation and has also worked for La Clinica de la Raza’s, Children’s Hospital of Oakland, and was a lecturer in the nutrition department of UC Berkeley. She graduated with her MPH from UC-Berkeley.
